Crystal's point of view.
I got to go to the listening party. Katie couldn't go so Ike was a little down. But now the album is out to
rave reviews by critics and fans. So now on to the "This Time Around" tour. Monday they were on Jay Leno.
Tuesday they played in L.A. They have been playing smaller venues on this tour.
We are in Phoenix. They've been up early since they had to perform on the local morning show Good Morning
Arizona this morning. After the sound check they will go to one of the local radio stations to do an interview.
Then the Meet -n- greet and dinner. Then the show. Michelle Branch is opening for them. She's cool. I like
her music.
We are at the venue waiting to do the sound check. Tay and I are talking while we wait.
"I heard your Mom sing the other day. She has a beautiful voice." he says
"Yes she does. She plays piano well too. She has stage fright though. She had to sing a solo of Rainbow
Connection for a grade in Choir in 6th grade. After she was through the bell rang. She ran up to the girls
room and cried she was so scared. My Dad has stage fright too. They both get panic attacks if they have to
speak in public" I say.
"Oh" he says. Then he notices the scar on my right arm "How'd you get your scar?"
"It happened a week before we were supposed to move to a different house. I cut it on a car that the side
was bent on. I needed lots of stitches. I got them out the day before we moved." I say.
"Ouch!" he says. "Who was your first crush?"
"What is this 20 questions?" I ask. Tay nods his head. "OK well it was on the boy next door when we were in 2nd grade. We used to walk
to school together. He called me laughing hyena and I used to like it so much that I would make him make me
laugh so he would call me that. We also used to pet a Husky named Smokey that was on the way."
"Where did you go on vacations as a kid?" he asks me.
"Canada to visit my Dad's relatives and here to visit my Mom's relatives." I say. >
"What did you with your friends as a kid?" he asks me.
"Oh play super heros, sports, listen to music, watch tv, go to movies and school functions." I say.
Before I can start asking him questions, my Mom and Zac walk up to us.
"Whew it's hot!" Tay says.
"It's Phoenix in August what did you expect?" says my Mom. It's about 110 outside. Like I said, She went to
high school and college in Arizona so she's used to the heat. My Mom's family still lives here so we got to see
them last night. Tay went with us. We had a good time.
"We are in the web theater. Where are all the cobwebs?" asks Zac, semi-jokingly.
"It's called that because they plan to broadcast a lot of the concerts via the web." my Mom says.
"Oh" Zac says. Ike comes up to us and they go and start the sound check. They sound pretty good. The acoustics in the
venue are good for an old place that has just been remodeled. There are a few fans outside already.
They were here when we got here. How do they know the guy's schedule? Oh well. It's going to be an
interesting tour.
