Katie's point of view.
I got to spend the holidays with my family and the Hansons. I couldn't go to the listening party in March,
but Crystal could go because it was during her Spring Bread so Ike was a little down. But the album, This
Time Around, will be out on May 9th, which coincidentally is my birthday. Now it's almost the end of
the Spring Semester. Ike decided to come to Ann Arbor for a couple of days and then we would fly home
together. He wanted us to spend some time together before he goes on tour. I am looking forward to
spending my birthday and Mother's Day at home. Ike and I are going out to dinner. I go to meet him in the
lobby of my dorm. He is there with a girl. What the..?
"Hey you." he says and gives me a hug. "Katie this is Jennifer. Jennifer this is my girlfriend Katie.
We shake hands and say hi. Then Ike pulls me aside.
"I've invited her to come to dinner with us." he says. "Jennifer is perfect for Christopher. Let's invite him
to come with us for dinner." After over a year of trying I have yet to find someone for Chris. He just isn't
ready. Chris will kill me if I do this to him but Ike will kill me if I say no. What do I do?
"Ok. Let's go."
We leave my dorm and walk over to Chris'. I knock on the door. He is surprised to see us. But he let's us
in, waiting for an explanation.
"We're going out for Chinese food and were wondering if you would like to come with us." I say.
He looks at Jennifer then gets scared. He pulls me aside.
"I thought I told you I don't want to be set up with anyone. I'm not ready." he says.
"I know." I say" but think of it as a free dinner and if things work out between the two of you then that
is an added bonus."
"Ok" he says. He turns around and says "let's go" to all of us.
We leave his dorm room and go to dinner.
We had a good time at dinner. Chris and Jennifer seemed to get along well. We talked about
music, plays, Ike's touring and recording, Chris' auditions, school, etc. Chris and Jennifer have a
lot in common. Jennifer likes acting but is a business major.
After dinner we walk Jennifer back to her dorm. Chris talks to her alone for a few minutes.
Then we walk back to Chris' dorm.
"Thanks" he says to me. "I like Jennifer. I got her phone number and I think I will start going
out with her. She is taking summer school classes too so we both will be here this summer. Thanks for being
so understanding and patient."
"You're welcome. Have a good summer with Jennifer." I say.
Ike and I walk back to my dorm room.
"Thanks for doing that." Ike says. "I know it made you uncomfortable but I was right about them wasn't
I?"
"Yes you were." I say.
We watch TV for awhile then Ike leaves.
