Katie's point of view.
I get to the door of my dorm room a few minutes later. My thoughts are filled with what happened at
dinner. The phone is ringing. I shove open the door and run to the phone.
"Hello?" I say
"Hi babe" . Oh great it's Ike. Now what do I say?
"Hey you. What's up?" I say trying to sound happy to hear from him.
"I'm fine. Are you ok? You don't sound like your cheerful self." He says.
"No. It's parents weekend and my parents couldn't come so I'm a little depressed. It's hard seeing other
students with their parents. Rachel's parents are here too." I say. "Plus I'm tired"
"Oh. I'm sorry about that." He says.
"Thanks. But school's going well. How's the tour going?" I say.
"It's going well. The audiences have been great. We make a few mistakes sometimes but we are still
having fun." He says. "I want to come visit you after we are done touring. Maybe you can show me around
the campus."
"Sounds great." I say, my heart beating a mile a minute. We talk for a few more minutes and then I say,
"Ike, I should go now. I need to get some sleep."
"Ok. I'll talk to you later. Good night" He says.
"Goodnight night" I say and hang up. I'm glad I didn't tell Ike about Chris but I feel guilty.
Ike's point of view
I hang up the phone. I don't know whether to believe Katie or not. Just then Taylor walks into our room to
get ready to go out with Crystal.
"What's wrong?" He asks me. I shake my head to clear my thoughts.
"I just had the weirdest conversation with Katie. She told me she was sad because her parents weren't
there for parents weekend and that she was tired. But I think she was keeping something from me." I say.
"Oh. The two of you have always been honest with each other. What do you think she is keeping from you?"
He asks.
"I'm not sure. I don't know maybe she really was just sad and tired" I say "Hey, word of warning. I
overheard Mom and Dad say they thought you and Crystal are getting too serious."
"Oh great! What am I supposed to do to convince them I'm not?" He says.
"You'll figure out something. Just have fun with her tonight." I say and then leave to let him get ready.
